Okazaki does not have any 5 star accommodations, and a number of hotels have closed since the last publication of this guide. Please check room availability and prices before visiting, especially when festivals are being held. As of the time of publication, broadband internet access remains a problem, please use the websites for updates on facilities and prices. For telephone bookings, if you are outside Okazaki City you need to dial 0564 (city code), and if you are outside Japan +81 564 (country/city code).

    Located next to the castle and garden, this hotel has excellent facilities and views. For short term stays it is probably the most comfortable option.

  • Okazaki Ohwa Hotel

    Located west of the castle close to the junction of the Meitetsu and Aikan railways, this is the newest large hotel in Okazaki and very convenient for business travellers.

    Comfortable hotel next to the Sugo river about a five minute stroll from Higashi Okazaki station. Quite good for tourists and business people with several good restaurants and bars nearby.

    The closet hotel to Higashi Okazaki station. Perhaps more suitable for business people than tourists, with good facilities (photo copiers etc) and easy access.

    Comfortable hotel in quiet area close to the National Research Institutes. It's a bit of a walk from the Higashi Okazaki station (around 10 minutes) but convenient to the Institute and in a quiet residential area.

    One of the cheapest hotels in the city, this is a no-frills hotel with both western style and Japanese style rooms, located about 3-4 minutes walk from Higashi Okazaki station.

    Southern Okazaki: There are three "no frills" hotels located in the south of the city in Ueji, about 7 minutes by taxi from JR Okazaki station. These are convenient for those visiting the southern area or who have a car.

For longer term visitors/residents:

• "Monthly/weekly mansions" - If you are visiting Okazaki for several weeks or longer, instead of a hotel bill it might be worth renting an apartment. In recent years it has been possible to do this via the "Monthly/weekly mansions" services. These are fairly affordable, though the locations are usually not as convenient as the hotels. http://www.weekly-mansion.com/

• Apartments/Houses/Real estate agencies

  For longer term visits or for those who will be in Okazaki for extended periods, the best option is to rent a house or apartment. Compared to larger cities, Okazaki's average rents are lower, and the amount of space comparatively larger. To rent a property you will usually require a guarantor, a local person or employer prepared to sign an idemnity. Most contracts also require a pre-payment equivalent to 3-4 months rent due to the deposit (shikikin) and the estate agent's commission (reikin).
