Iga Hachimangu Much of the ancient culture in Okazaki is related to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the Iga Hachimangu shrine is no exception.

Hatcho Miso Miso, a product well-known throughout Japan, Okazaki's Hatcho Miso is produced in a two years lasting process using traditional methods. Not only a good health product, also a good "omyage".

Sports
Sumo In Okazaki, all sports have loyal fans and performers. Traditional sports like Sumo are probably the most interesting ones. Clubs mostly welcome foreigners and short-time participation is usually for free.
Close to but slightly different from western archery is kyuudo, the Japanese archery version. The archery range in Chou Sogu Kouen is impressive but requires a membership in a club. Kyuudo
Kendou Kendo is a sword-fighting art and competition whose participants are easily recognizable because of their heavy protection against injuries in the heat of the duel.
In Japan, Judo is much more a competitive sport than an art of self-defense. Very popular by Japanese and foreigners alike and several clubs exist in Okazaki. Judo
Sightseeing
Merry-Go-Round in Minami Koen Minami Kouen offers not a only merry-go-round but also a ferris wheel, a number of sport places, ponds, a 'steam' train and more. Definitely a good place to go at least once!
Primarily designed to be an opportunity where children can actively create, the World Children's Art Museum offers plenty for adults too. A good day trip by bicycle, although car is recommended. World Children's Art Museum
Hanabi Okazaki is the source of most firework designs sold in Japan, originating in the Shogun period of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The massive fireworks festivals in August attracts thousands of visitors from all Japan.
Okazaki Castle is the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu and and although rebuilt last century, the castle is still held in high esteem. Many events and festivals take place in the park around the castle. Okazakijo
Nature
Minami Kouen Okazaki is a city of parks and compared to bigger cities in Japan a green heaven. Bring the kids, sit in the lovely pagodas in Minami Kouen or have a picknick in any of the below parks, enjoy the fresh air and the view.
Higashi Kouen is beautiful during the irises' high season. The kids might be more interested in the small zoo displaying amongst others an elephant, camels, deer and monkeys. Higashi Kouen
Daimon Kouen Daimon Kouen is small park in the northern part of Okazaki, ideal for a barbeque. Embedded in green and next to the Yahagi river.
