Higashi Koen
Higashi Koen ("East Park") covers 26 hectares (64 acres) of
prime land.
The park includes running and orienteering courses, a zoo (more for children
though - an elephant, monkeys, camels and so on), and some beautiful ponds.
The park is forested but also well tended. Early in June it is famous for its
beautiful irises, well worth a look - especially at night when the park is illuminated.
Ideal for a romantic walk! The park closes at 9pm though - better not make it
too late.
In October the red leaves (especially with the pagoda and pond)
are beautiful and attract many Okazakians out for a stroll. There are many areas
to relax or let the kids play.
To get to the park, take the Meitetsu bus from Higashi Okazaki
(takes about 20 minutes).
