Japanese Language Classes
There are two opportunities for more formal learning.
OIA - The Okazaki International Association (OIA) offers group
Japanese Language classes taught by volunteers. The classes are free, and anyone
can participate. For further information and the schedule, please contact the
OIA through the City Hall. Depending on the schedule, the volunteer classes
are taught in two locations:
Saturdays - 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the Tatsumigaoka Kaikan
in Higashi Myodaiji-cho, east of Higashi Okazaki station.
2nd/3rd/4th Sundays & on Thursdays - 10.00am to 12.00pm
in Aoi Hall on the campus of the Yamasa Institute (Okazaki's Japanese Language
School) in Hane-cho.
The volunteer classes are useful. For more formal lessons from
more qualified instructors it is also possible to study Japanese at the
Yamasa
Institute, either part-time, full-time (visa sponsorship available), in
private classes or to even study Japanese via distance learning through the
internet. The Yamasa Institute is part of the non-profit Hattori Foundation,
one of the oldest educational philanthropies in Japan, established in Okazaki
City in 1919.
